2014 Kia Forte

2014 Kia Forte

Kia made a name for itself as a brand synonymous with economy and reliability, but over the last several years it’s been able to keep those two flagships of its reputation while also adding performance, comfort, and luxury to the list. The latest example of Kia’s transformation is the thrilling turbocharged Kia Forte Koup that was unveiled last month at the New York International Auto Show. The turbocharged powertrain will be one of two options for the upcoming 2014 Forte Koup, which will be available soon here at Fisher Kia in Boulder. Let’s take a closer look at what this exciting option is capable of.

Inspired Performance

Kia is charging into the sports car segment with the most powerful Forte Koup ever put into production. Utilizing an advanced powertrain with a 1.6L GDI turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, the turbocharged Kia Forte manages to put out an imposing 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The new turbocharged Kia Forte Koup also manages to get optimum fuel efficiency through the high-tech engineering and design with variable valve timing in the engine, a sport-tuned suspension with a McPherson strut setup in front, and a torsion beam rear design.

Inside the Cabin

The powerful performance of the new turbocharged Kia Forte Koup is carried over to the cabin, which houses a sporty interior that features a smooth leather steering wheel and shift knob, chrome accents around the HVAC controls, and carbon fiber-like textures on the dash and seats. Buyers can also opt for heated seats, an air-cooled driver’s seat, and driver-selectable electric steering. In terms of technology there is no place the Kia skimped, with features that include UVO eServices with Rear Camera Display, Bluetooth wireless technology, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, steering wheel mounted audio and cruise controls, and FlexSteer.

When It’s Coming

The 2014 turbocharged Kia Forte Koup is expected to become available to buyers during the fourth quarter of 2013. If you’re interested in finding out more about the new turbocharged Forte stop by Fisher Kia at 6025 Arapahoe Road in Boulder. Or, if you want to check out one of the current 2013 models, you can also test drive a 2013 Kia Forte today!

2013 Kia Sportage Wonder WomanEvery kid dreams of saving the world, but chances are you’ve given up that dream in your adult years. Well, here at Fisher Kia in Boulder we suggest that you break out your old Wonder Woman costume and start practicing your lasso tricks, because Kia is about to make your dream a reality with the Kia Sportage Wonder Woman edition.

The Wonder Woman Kia Sportage, which debuted at the New York Auto Show, is the latest entry in a long list of Justice League themed Kia/DC Comics collaborations. It joins six other Justice League themed Kias: the Superman Optima Hybrid, the Batman Optima, the Aquaman Rio Hatchback, the Cyborg Forte Hatchback, the Flash Forte Coup, and the Green Lantern Soul. An eighth special edition Kia, which is as-yet unreleased, will represent the Justice League as a whole.

So why is the Wonder Woman Kia Sportage a big deal? In addition to its stylish design and classic 2013 Kia Sportage heritage, this new concept is using its superhuman powers for good.

The Wonder Woman Kia Sportage

With its red and blue paint job, gold trim, and silver stars, this Sportage model replicates Wonder Woman’s iconic costume with Kia style. The car also offers up some creative interpretations of Wonder Woman’s accessories, featuring gold trim that represents the Lasso of Truth, a grille that sports her signature eagle chest-plate emblem, and even a tiara decal at the very top of the windshield.

The superhero theme is also reflected in the car’s interior, which features bright red upholstery emblazoned with Wonder Woman’s “W” logo and blue LED accent lighting throughout.

Preparing Your Car for Spring and Summer Driving

By Fisher Kia | Posted in Driving Tips on Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 at 9:41 PM

Washing the Car InteriorWhen winter rolled in, you probably took steps to ensure that your car would stay safe during those treacherous icy drives. However, longer days and warmer temperatures are no reason to throw caution to the wind. Prepare your car for spring and summer fun with these tips from Fisher Kia in Boulder:

  • Check Your Tires: Harsh winter weather can do a number on your tires, so make sure they’re in good condition before declaring them safe for spring driving. Bald or underinflated tires can be unsafe when you’re driving through an April shower. If you switched to snow tires for the winter months, now is the time to swap them out for an all-season set instead.
  • Replace Your Wiper Blades: Heavy snow, sleet, and ice will wreak havoc on your sensitive wiper blades, and the cost of replacing them is minimal. If your wiper blades have stuck it out through the entire winter, retire them in favor of a new pair, then enjoy the clear view from your driver’s seat.
  • Get a Check-up: Tires and wiper blades aren’t the only parts of your car that have to work a little harder in the winter. Pre-empt common post-winter problems by checking fluid levels, belts and hoses yourself, or schedule a service appointment and have our maintenance experts give your car an inspection. You could save money on expensive repairs down the road just by catching minor issues before they escalate.
  • Take Time for Spring Cleaning: Spring and summer months are when everyone seems to put their best foot forward. Don’t let your car feel left out! Between salty roads and muddy boots, chances are good that your car is looking worse for the wear by the time spring rolls around. A car wash, a fresh coat of wax, and a quick vacuum or thorough detailing is a great way to usher in a new season in style.

Get a Fresh Start for Spring at Fisher Kia

For the very best in post-winter auto care, visit Fisher Kia for expert service and maintenance, or check out our vast selection of new and used cars for a fresh new beginning. Either way, you’ll drive off into the beautiful Colorado spring sunset feeling like a million bucks.

2014 Kia Optima Updates Revealed at New York Auto Show

By Fisher Kia | Posted in 2014 Kia Models on Sunday, April 7th, 2013 at 2:27 AM

Since the release of the first Kia Optima for the 2010 model year, this mid-size sedan has made Kia a true force to be reckoned with in this competitive segment. Today, the current Kia Optima has cemented the automaker’s reputation as designers of some of the most attractive, affordable, and dependable vehicles out there. For the 2014 model year Kia is upping the ante with a refreshed new redesign of the Optima that gives it more style, grace, and attitude than ever before along with new state-of-the-art interior features. Unveiled at the New York Auto Show just a few days ago, the 2014 Kia Optima is turning heads, and it’s coming soon to Fisher Kia in Boulder.

Updated Exterior

While the overall body remains mostly unchanged, the Optima gets some exciting new exterior updates for 2014. The nicely integrated new front fascia gives the Optima a more modern and daring look, with some models adding updated LED fog lights, which get their design from the European Pro_cee’d GT. Additional accents include a speedy looking chrome wing on the fender vent and updated LED taillights. The rear diffuser and trunk have been redesigned, giving the Optima a more composed and aerodynamic look.

On the Inside

The 2013 Optima already came with a generous and competitive list of standard and optional features, and in 2014 that list gets even bigger, with a new 4.3-inch TFT screen that rests in the instrument panel. Buyers will also now have the option of an all-new 8-inch navigation and telematics screen and a blind spot detection system that includes rear cross-traffic alert for added safety and peace of mind. In addition to these new technical features, the seats of the Optima have been completely redesigned to add more comfort and style to the Optima ride.

Under the Hood

Depending upon the model you decide to go with, the 2014 Optima is available with a 2.4L engine that produces 200 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, a 2.0L turbocharged engine that gets a commanding 274 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, as well as a hybrid system that saves on fuel while still getting 206 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

Learn More!

Whether you’re ready to buy the 2013 model today or want to find out more about the upcoming 2014 Kia Optima, stop by Fisher Kia! Kia Unveils 3 New Models at New York Auto Show

By Fisher Kia | Posted in 2014 Kia Models on Saturday, April 6th, 2013 at 3:13 PM

2014 Kia Forte

Over the past several years, Kia has grown from a respectable and affordable choice in the auto market for the American consumer into a full blown arsenal of competitively priced, generously equipped, daringly designed, commanding driving machines. The quick turnaround looks more like a radical blitz of the industry than a simple restructuring of design, engineering, and business interests, and it doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon. This March at the New York International Auto Show, Kia revealed three exciting new and/or redesigned models for the upcoming 2014 model year: the updated 2014 Kia Optima mid-size car, a new 2-door version of the Kia Forte labeled the 2014 Kia Forte Koup, and a fresh redesign of the popular Kia Soul. All of these models will be coming soon to Fisher Kia in Boulder.

Refreshed Kia Optima

Kia continues its encroachment on the upscale luxury market with the unveiling of the new Kia Optima. Particularly on the SX-L model, Kia seems to be tipping the scales toward refining comfort, style, and grace. For the 2014 model year the SX-L will include 18-inch chrome wheels, fresh LED fog lights, and red brake calipers on the outside as well as a new electronic parking brake for added safety and convenience.

The New Forte Koup

The new 2014 Kia Forte Koup will be the most powerful Forte ever and really gives this model a new sporty, fun-to-drive experience. The EX comes with a competitive 173 hp 2.0L GDI 4-cylinder engine, while the SX version really pumps up the volume with a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder that’s good for 201 hp and amps up the sporty experience with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

The New Kia Soul

Kia knows that the Soul has been its bread and butter since it accelerated Kia’s relevancy in the American market in 2009. While the common idea would be “don’t mess with a good thing,” the Kia philosophy is to always strive for more. Inspired by the 2012 Track’ster concept car, the new Soul comes with a chassis that is stiffer, longer, and wider than the original, which promises to produce a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Kia CUB Concept Car Unveiled at Seoul Motor Show

By Fisher Kia | Posted in Car Models on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at 6:21 PM

While the 2013 Kia model lineup has pleased consumers in the United States and throughout the world, it seems clear at this point that Kia Motors, Inc. is never satisfied with the status quo. In order to continue putting out some of the most competitive models on the market, the engineers and designers at Kia are always looking to push the envelope with some of the most innovative concepts out there today. They continued this tradition of forward thinking with the unveiling of the new CUB concept car at the 9th annual Seoul International Motor Show in South Korea.

Robust Performance

The CUB concept improves upon Kia’s original 1.6L gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine which has been used for the new Kia pro_cee’d GT and cee’d GT in Europe. Combined with a twin-scroll turbocharger and reinforced internal components, the new 1.6L engine puts out over twice as much hp and torque than its predecessor at 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

Sport Meets Luxury

This small and sporty coupe is designed to turn heads with plenty of character, featuring sophisticated incorporated curves for minimum drag and a dipped windshield reminiscent of the Optima, Sportage, and Cadenza. Two-point LED headlights and 19-inch alloy wheels confirm that nothing was left out in the consideration of this model’s design. Kia has left nothing out of the inside of this coupe either, with a cabin equipped with a touch-sensored air vent, a built-in biosensor on the steering wheel, and a Driving Information System (DIS) to assist the driver during the trip. While this model is fully equipped with premium technology and other luxury features, the CUB still manages to pull off a minimalist look that is both comforting and convenient for drivers and passengers alike.

Check Out the 2013 Lineup at Fisher Kia

While we can’t be sure yet when or if the CUB concept will be opened up for consumer purchase in the United States or Europe, there are already a lot of inspired models available in the 2013 lineup at Fisher Kia, located at 6025 Arapahoe Road in Boulder, Colorado. How to Avoid Deer Collisions

By Fisher Kia | Posted in Driving Tips on Monday, April 1st, 2013 at 8:49 PM

There has been a huge deer population boom in the United States recently, and it is at its all-time highest since the 1600’s. The deer might appreciate the extra company, but unfortunately, this has caused the amount of deer-related automobile incidents to rise dramatically. Here at Fisher Kia, the premier car dealership in Boulder, we want our customers to be extra careful this spring since the warmer weather will promote more deer activity. The number one thing to remember is to slow down and brake if a collision is the only option when encountering a deer. Swerving to avoid any animal can result in an even worse accident. Here are a few tips we’ve put together to help you stay safe out there in deer country!

Remain Aware

Over 100 people lose their lives due to deer-related accidents and they are also the most common vehicle-animal collision type in the country. Keeping a watchful eye on the road and a reasonable speed while traveling through heavily populated deer areas will only help to keep such accidents from occurring.

Keep These Tips in Mind

  • When driving during early morning or twilight hours, scan the area for deer while driving. These times are when deer are the most active and when deer-related accidents occur most often.
  • Pay attention to “Deer Crossing” signs, especially when driving through heavily wooded areas or fields. Keep a slower speed and check either side of the road for deer as often as you can without distracting yourself.
  • At night, utilize your vehicle’s high-beams. The deer’s eyes will reflect the light and you will see that reflection way before you see the deer itself. Make sure to slow down if you do see this reflection, as headlights have a tendency to hypnotize deer.
  • Due to the fact that deer are herd animals, watch for more if you see one.
  • If a collision cannot be avoided, make sure to brake and slow down as quickly as you can without losing control of your car. Swerving will only serve to increase the chance of vehicle control loss and the chance of an accident.
  • Make sure to report a deer collision to the police if there is impact. Do not make any attempt to touch or assist the deer, as it might injure itself further, or even you.

If your car is damaged by a deer, or anything else out on the road, our Fisher Kia Service Department technicians can fix it up so it’s back to running and looking like-new. We are located at 6025 Arapahoe Road in Boulder, and our service team can be reached by dialing (303) 647-4887. Stay safe Boulder drivers!

How to Drive Safely with Dogs

By Fisher Kia | Posted in Driving Tips on Monday, April 1st, 2013 at 8:45 PM

If you have a dog, then you know how difficult it is to leave him or her at home when you’re taking a short trip. Even if you’re just going to the grocery store, your dog doesn’t know you’ll be right back and there’s nothing worse than seeing those sad puppy eyes as you close the door and leave your dog at home. That’s one of the reasons many pet owners choose to take their dogs on errands and trips around town and even on longer road trips. While it’s heartwarming to see your excited dog enjoying a car ride, there are some important things to consider when driving your dog around town to maximize the safety for both you and your canine friend. At Fisher Kia, your local Boulder Kia dealership, we’ve put together some helpful tips.

1. Don’t leave your pet in the car: This is the ultimate no-no of pet care in cars. Leaving your dog in a warm car for any period of time can be extremely uncomfortable and can actually lead to death.

2. Make sure that your dog is secured: When your dog is loose in the car it can cause a number of different safety problems for you and your pet. First of all, it can distract the driver from doing the most important job they have: driving. Don’t let your dog sit in your lap or by your feet because it can affect your ability to steer, brake, and accelerate properly. When a dog puts its head out the window, it is at risk of serious injury from debris, obstacles, signs, and other cars. If your dog is not secure in the case of an accident, this can lead to serious injury or death. Even if your pet survives the accident it may be able to escape the car and run away if the door opens or window breaks because of the accident. To secure your dog, put it in a crate that is tightly stowed or purchase a pet seatbelt for your pup.

3. Train your dog to be good on car rides: Having a dog that is well trained and prepared for a car ride is essential to the safety of you and your pet. Even if you have the proper securing devices (crate, seatbelt) for your pet, if he or she is uncomfortable with the ride then it will be a distraction for you and no fun for your dog. Start out by taking your dog on small trips. Stop every once in a while to make sure he or she is doing okay. Give positive reinforcement. Sometimes sensory overload can be a reason for your pet acting out. Putting a cover over the crate or eye covers can help your dog to not get overwhelmed. Still other dogs simply can’t get used to riding in a car. Unfortunately, in this situation you should look for other means of having your dog cared for when you’re away from the home.

4. Get a pet-safe car: People often consider buying a car based on human safety standards from the IIHS, but pet owners should also consider getting pet-safe cars. Available now at Fisher Kia, the 2013 Kia Soul was named one of the top pet-safe cars from Edmunds.com.

Keep Your Pet Safe

In summary, don’t leave your pet in a warm car, secure your pet to avoid safety hazards and distractions, train your dog to handle trips in the car, and get a pet-safe model like the Kia Soul. Happy driving to canine owners and canines alike!

Under the Hood and the Exterior

The 2014 Kia Cadenza will sport an ultra-modern appearance, featuring Kia’s new family grille and LED “eyebrows” that accent the HID adaptive front headlights. The Cadenza will sit on standard 18-inch alloy wheels, but 19-inch alloy wheels are an option with the technology package. In order to take on roads with tight curves, the Cadenza is equipped with an independent suspension, a McPherson front strut array, and a multilink rear design. The 3.3L V-6 pumps out an impressive 293 hp at 6400 rpm and features a six-speed automatic transmission. Kia’s first true luxury vehicle brings power to the table, too!

2014 Kia Soul Sneak-Peek

By Fisher Auto | Posted in 2014 Kia Models, New Kia on Thursday, March 28th, 2013 at 9:13 PM

2014 Kia Soul

The New York International Auto Show, which officially kicks off on March 29th, 2013, has been open to the press on a limited basis for two days now, and we already have some juicy details to share with you about the redesigned 2014 Kia Soul.  For a number of years now the Soul has been one of Kia’s top selling models, and with good reason.  A sporty, practical solution to the modern sedan, the Soul offers drivers comfort, convenience and reliability at a fraction of the cost of competitor’s offerings.

The redesigned 2014 Kia Soul has, according to CNET, “stolen the show” and the public hasn’t even had the chance to see it yet.  In the preview video above CNET Editor-At-Large Brian Cooley introduces us to the revised vehicle and many of the new features that will be included on the 2014 model.

Exterior Styling and Powertrain

Under the hood Kia carried over the engines from the 2013 models, offering a 1.6 or 2.0 liter direct injection inline 4-engine that should offer similarly stellar fuel efficiency for 2014.

For 2014 the Soul maintains its signature box-like look that many fans have come to love, however the wheelbase, or the length of the vehicle between the wheels has been extended by an inch.  A more drastic change has been made to the track or the width of the vehicle, giving the Soul a sportier, sleeker look.  The front end of the vehicle has been redesigned as well, especially near the wheel bays.  Now you will see smoother lines and shapes that give the vehicle a more contoured appearance.

Interior Styling and Features

The sleeker lines and shapes have also been incorporated into the interior of the Soul, especially in the dash.  Previous models featured sharp, boxy edges on the dash which have been replaced with smooth, modern shapes in the 2014 model.  Interior materials have also been changed, transitioning from hard plastics to much softer surfaces that really give off a feeling of quality.  The 2014 Kia Soul will also feature an optional 8″ touch screen with navigation which incorporates Kia’s Uvo eServices infotainment system.  The new Uvo eServices system is also available without the navigation system equipped with a screen that is a bit smaller.

Contrary to what you would believe from an exterior inspection, the 2014 Kia Soul is also roomy on the inside.  In the video above you can see that even while Brian is in driving position there is plenty of room for passengers to sit comfortably in the backseat.  For 2014 the trunk has also been modified a bit, featuring a larger hatch for easier storage access.

At the time of writing this blog there is no word on pricing or availability for the 2014 Kia Soul, but check out our Kia Soul Inventory Page or give us a call at (855) 486-0542 for up-to-the-minute information.
